Why Consider Conditional Admission?
If you have met SUNY Brockport’s academic requirements, but have not yet satisfied the English requirement, you may apply for conditional admission. In this program, students will complete the required English language coursework at the English Language Center located on the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) campus.
After successfully completing the program, you will transfer to SUNY Brockport to begin your academic studies. This option is also a great opportunity to:
- Strengthen your English language skills
- Become familiar with the US teaching style before starting your academic program
- Enhance your understanding of US customs and culture to better prepare yourself for life outside the classroom
What Levels are Offered?
The RIT ELC offers levels to match any language proficiency. Your level will be decided based on your test scores.
- Basic/Beginner
- Intermediate
- High Intermediate
- Advanced
- Academic or Graduate

You will be supported by the SUNY Brockport and RIT ELC staff all the way. Some of the services include:

Begin your application at brockport.edu/international. During the application process, our international admissions team will connect with you about your options. Yes, you should submit a TOEFL, IELTS, or PTE score, so that we can place you at the correct level and provide you with an academic plan.
