Admission to optometry school
Our minor consists of mostly upper-level courses and experiences in the behavioral, social, and hard sciences with a primary focus of preparing students to pursue a career in optometry. It is not intended to satisfy the entire list of prerequisite courses needed to apply to optometry school or take the Optometry Admission Test (OAT).
Career outlook
Employment of optometrists is projected to grow nine percent from 2023 to 2033, much faster than the average for all occupations according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
