Research Interests

Dr. Reed’s research currently focuses on understanding the structure function relationship that impacts binding between iridium(III) complexes and G-quadruplex DNA. This is being explored computationally via molecular docking studies and in the lab by synthesizing a library of iridium complexes to test with GQ DNA.  These luminescent compounds with good GQ affinity can be applied as label-free switch-on fluorescent detecting sensors for important analytes such as metal ions and small molecules.
