Bio

Dr. Afeez A. Hazzan is an Associate Professor and Interim Chair of the Department of Healthcare Studies at SUNY Brockport. He has led several caregiver intervention studies including community-wide initiatives that involve family caregiver-serving organizations, care providers, creative artists, and community leaders. He collaborates on national and international studies aiming to improve the quality of life of older adults living with chronic conditions as well as their family caregivers. Dr. Hazzan has extensive experience working in health care settings, research organizations, and public health agencies. He regularly presents his research at national and international conferences.

Dr. Hazzan teaches courses in statistics, managerial epidemiology, and research methods to graduate and undergraduate students. He has received recognition for his teaching, research, and service activities. Among other awards, Dr. Hazzan is a recipient of the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching (2024), Outstanding Service to Students Award (2024), and Faculty-Student Engagement Award (2022).
