Policy Statement

The quality of information presented on the University’s website plays an important role in recruiting students to SUNY Brockport and relaying needed information to internal stakeholders. This policy will help ensure a high-quality website for the SUNY Brockport community.

Purpose/Scope

This policy is in place to ensure SUNY Brockport’s image is protected and information on our website is displayed appropriately, accessibly, and effectively.

Applicability

The Website Content Policy applies to all content posted by individuals and groups within the University’s internet domain (www.brockport.edu).

Policy Procedures

University Communications is responsible for content on the SUNY Brockport homepage and all navigation pages directly linked to the homepage.

Department and administrative heads are responsible for ensuring the accuracy and timeliness of web page content for their respective departments and units. All content is subject to the approval of University Communications.

All website content should be accessible to the visually challenged accessing the website through non-traditional means.

Policy Distribution

This Website Content Policy, with the most current revisions, will be linked from the University’s website.

Policy Decisions

University Communications will continue to review and recommend specific changes or additions to the Website Content Policy.

Policy Grace Period

Future changes to this policy will have at least a one-month grace period for changes to be implemented. Departments, units, offices, and programs needing assistance creating or updating a web page should contact the Office of University Communications. It is expected that information on office and department web sites be reviewed and updated at least yearly by the appropriate unit head.
