As an active partner in the development of student learning communities, SUNY Brockport is committed to establishing a vibrant, supportive, and safe Greek Life community on campus. Recognized social fraternities and sororities must conduct themselves in a manner appropriate to the University’s mission and within the University’s standards for individual and organizational behaviors.
The mission of SUNY Brockport’s Greek Life system is to ensure the success of students who chose to join Greek Life and to promote the Greek system as an integral and productive part of the University.
To accomplish this mission, the system strives to meet the following goals:
- Promote the intellectual, social, recreational, spiritual, moral, civic, and career development of Greek members
- Provide training in leadership and other personal and social skills
- Promote member involvement in co-curricular activities
- Promote sponsorship and participation in community service projects
- Promote loyalty to Greek organizations, the University, and the community
- Promote positive educational outcomes
- Promote an appreciation for different lifestyles and cultural heritages
- Recognize the positive cultural traditions in different Greek organizations
