Announcing the Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence Recipients

The SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence recognizes students for outstanding achievements across multiple areas. This award is the highest honor bestowed upon a student by SUNY.

The 2025–2026 Chancellor’s Award for Student Excellence (CASE) recipients, who will be honored at a statewide ceremony in Albany and at the 2026 Honors and Awards Ceremony on Friday, April 24, from 3 – 4:30 pm in the Seymour Union Ballroom.

CASE Award recipients have demonstrated excellence in at least three of the following areas: Academics; Leadership; Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Justice; Campus Involvement, Civics and Service; Research and Creative Development; and the Arts (creative or performing).

2026 Recipients

Rylie DelVecchio, an Honors College student with a 3.98 GPA majoring in Social Work and Sociology, has earned multiple academic honors and demonstrated a strong commitment to advocating for underserved communities through research, leadership, and service. Her experiences include work with anti-exploitation initiatives, a Library of Congress internship, community volunteer roles, and faculty recognition for her academic rigor and dedication to addressing complex social issues.

Gavin Miller, an Honors student majoring in political science with a 3.79 GPA, has earned strong faculty praise for his academic excellence and exceptional engagement with both campus and community. He has demonstrated impactful leadership through founding and leading student organizations, earning awards in international simulations, completing policy-focused internships, and conducting research on global economic issues tied to democratic development.

Nicholas Pisano will graduate from SUNY Brockport in just two years with a Mathematics degree and a 4.0 GPA, having completed some of the institution’s most challenging courses, including master’s-level work. He has conducted advanced research in Gröbner basis theory, presented at conferences, held teaching and leadership roles, and earned strong faculty praise for his exceptional potential as he prepares to apply to PhD programs.

Sharvani Regmi, a Journalism & Broadcasting major with a 3.76 GPA, was unanimously nominated for the CASE award and has distinguished herself through academic excellence, leadership, and professional achievements, including multiple state and national broadcasting honors. Beyond the classroom, she serves as President of the Brockport Student Government—the first international student in the role—while balancing service, campus employment awards, and strong recommendations recognizing her as one of the most outstanding students across the SUNY system.
