Global Eagles: Stories of the Study Abroad & International Student Experience

Room: 119 - This workshop will explore the lived experiences of study abroad and international students. Speakers will dive into the successes, challenges, and career readiness that their international experiences provided them. Attendees will participate in an activity to explore how storytelling can inspire and cultivate new pathways to international opportunities. 

Presenters

Olivia Barrios Johnson

Olivia is a graduate of Quinnipiac University where she earned both her Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees in Journalism. She studied abroad for a semester in Cork, Ireland and was inspired to pursue a career in international education. She currently serves as a Study Abroad Advisor at SUNY Brockport within the Center for Global Education and Engagement. As an early career professional, she is passionate about helping students seek out international opportunities to further enhance their academic experience.

Thomas Meal

Thomas is a senior at SUNY Brockport, double majoring in Business Administration and Marketing. He serves as a Global Ambassador with Brockport’s Study Abroad Department and is actively involved in the Ultimate Frisbee and Pickleball clubs. Thomas studied abroad in London during the Fall 2024 semester.

 

Chukwudalu Egbunike

Chukwudalu is a Nursing major with a Biology minor and a member of the SUNY Brockport Class of 2027 and part of the Honors College. An international student from Nigeria, she serves as President of the Nigerian Students Association (NSA) and works on campus for BASC services and as a Night Desk Attendant with Residential Life.

 

Emilie Burt

Burt is a a senior marketing major at SUNY Brockport with a minor in Sociology. She will be graduating in Spring, 2026. Burt studied abroad in the Fall of 2024 in London at the University of Westminster and is from Buffalo, NY.
