Meet Our Student Leaders

These students have helped to organize this year’s Student Leadership Conference. 

Victoria Ampofo

MC

Victoria is a freshman majoring in neuroscience. Her goal is to attend medical school to become a neurosurgeon. When she’s not busy studying, she enjoys gardening and playing video games. She is from a big family and is from the Bronx.

Milton Bennett

MC, Student Leadership Assistant, Conference Planning Committee member 

Milton is a sophomore and a Criminal Justice major with a minor in Forensic Science. He is a Student Leadership Assistant for the Leadership Development Program in SULA – SUNY Brockport’s Student Union, Leadership & Activities Department. He spends his free time developing social skills and builds new connections with people on campus. He is good at playing the piano and playing the drums. He knows a lot of people. He is passionate about what it means to be a young leader in this changing world and perplexed by what it means to grow as a person. 


Emilie Burte

MC, Presenter 

Burt is a senior marketing major with a minor in Sociology. She will be graduating in Spring, 2026. Burt studied abroad in the Fall of 2024 in London at the University of Westminster and is from Buffalo, NY. 

 

 


David Buyon

Moderator of Plenary Panel

David has been involved in student leadership since middle school, consistently focusing on representation and access. In high school, he served as a student representative to the Rochester City School District Board of Education, where he brought forward student concerns, participated in district discussions, and contributed to conversations about equity and resource allocation.

As a Borlaug Scholar at Cornell University, he worked on a project examining the relationship between food insecurity and educational access in India. His work focused on how economic and agricultural instability affect school attendance and long-term academic outcomes, with an emphasis on practical, community-informed approaches.

In college, he continues his commitment to institutional leadership and governance. He serves as Chief Justice of his student government, overseeing the interpretation of governing documents and ensuring procedural fairness within the organization. He is also the Vice President of the Muslim Student Association, where he helps coordinate programming, supports community-building initiatives, and represents the organization in campus-wide engagement efforts. In addition, he serves on multiple university committees, contributing student perspectives to discussions on policy, campus climate, and academic affairs.

His academic interests center on urban psychology, the epigenetic effects of stress in urban environments, and industrial-organizational psychology within higher education and hospital systems. His work and research interests are grounded in understanding how institutional structures and environmental conditions shape individual outcomes, particularly for students from low-income and underrepresented backgrounds.


Julianna Corleto

Conference Planning Committee member, Presenter

Julianna is a sophomore at majoring in nursing and pursuing minors in psychology and pre-professional health. Julianna is involved around campus as an RA and Student Government Senator. She has a strong commitment to maintaining an inclusive community and advocating student needs across her roles.


Nazreath Hagos

Student Leadership Assistant 

Naz is a public health major with a minor in communications, with professional experience in networking. She is working as an Office Assistant through service-oriented advocacy. She is a sophomore and is focusing on her event-planning and commitment skills.  


DaJuan Jackson

Vlogger 

DaJuan “DJ” Jackson graduated from the Rochester City School District and was an Urban League Black Scholar. Now, a first-year student at SUNY Brockport, he is deeply committed to leadership, media, and community impact. As a Media Manager for multiple organizations, and a member of the Rochester Association of Black Journalists, Jackson creates content that highlights the Brockport and Rochester communities.

Outside of academics, DJ runs his own business, strengthening his leadership and management skills. Using his talents in videography and TV production, he has co-produced and directed an Alzheimer’s awareness documentary and hopes to continue creating meaningful projects that uplift and educate his community. 


Marquis Larmond

Graphic Design Creator

Marquis is an emerging professional with experience in education, coaching, community engagement, and graphic design. He is the creator of this year’s conference logo. He is committed to continued professional growth and service-oriented leadership. 


Cadence Lopez

MC, Moderator 

A senior and double major in English (creative writing) and women and gender studies, Cadence currently serves as Chapter President of Delta Phi Epsilon. In addition to her role in Delta Phi Epsilon, she serves on the Presidential Search Committee and also works as a Union Manager with the Student Union Leadership & Activities (SULA) team. Previously, Cadence worked with the Center for Gender & Sexual Diversity (CGSD). Across all of her roles, she brings a strong commitment to leadership, storytelling, and social justice, with academic and professional interests in writing, publishing, and feminist scholarship. She hopes to pursue a career in publishing or professional writing, where she can continue amplifying meaningful stories and building inclusive spaces.



Dominic Mruzek

Videographer

Dominic is a journalism and social media student major. He specializes in video graphics, editing, and film. With these skills, Dominic creates lively and informative videos on a range of topics, most notably history. In the past Dominic has worked for the Pomeroy Foundation to produce videos covering some of New York States history. Now, Dominic will turn his skills towards Brockport’s Annual Student Leadership Conference to help record and preserve these events so more people can learn from them. 


Gabrielle O’Brien

Videographer

Gabrielle is an undergraduate junior majoring in journalism and social media concentrating in media production, she has participated in many projects outside of traditional classes. Most notable of these is the Live Streaming independent study. Gabby is excited to continue working on filming and acting for projects in and outside of class.

Joseph Powell

Presenter

Joseph is a sophomore at SUNY Brockport. He grew up homeschooling in Virginia, and this unique form of education combined with his shift in environment when he moved to Rochester, NY helped him develop creativity and an unusual perspective. He is majoring in Political Science, and he cares deeply about helping to reduce some of the huge inequalities and suffering in the U.S. as well as building bridges between groups of people and helping them to appreciate their shared humanity. 


Cass Purvis

Conference Planning Committee member

Cass is a sophomore pursuing a major in psychology with minors in sociology and women and gender studies. They are involved on campus as an RA to help create an inclusive community on campus through this position.

 

 



Jacob Redick

Videographer

Jacob is an aspiring filmmaker currently enrolled at SUNY Brockport, where he is under the tutelage of an award-winning documentarian. Specializing in video editing, his work can be seen nationwide, and seeks to produce educational content in a fresh and fun way.

Samuel Robinson

Videographer

Samuel is a writer, a journalism and social media major at SUNY Brockport, and a fair housing advocate. With experience working in the Public Service Sector with non-profit organizations in Rochester NY, Samuel works to apply his media production and broadcasting skills to better serve his advocacy efforts to spread awareness of growing wealth disparities within affected communities, and the increasingly unstable housing market.
