Residential Life Enhances Campus Living

From updated lounge spaces and technology improvements to major summer renovations across multiple residence halls, Residential Life continues to invest in modern, safe, and engaging living environments for Brockport students.

Residential Life completed several projects this year to improve the residential student experience and update campus living spaces.

They installed 12 new billiard tables and 13 new table tennis tops in student lounges, replacing older equipment. Several community spaces in Benedict, Dobson, Gordon, and Harmon received new furniture to create more comfortable areas for studying, relaxing, and socializing. Additional improvements include new patio umbrellas for outdoor tables at Eagle Hall.

TV equipment in multiple residence halls was updated to improve student streaming access through Roku devices and HDMI connections. The Mortimer Hall movie theater and Eagle Hall Multi-Purpose Room also received updated equipment for easier student use.

Cooktop safety devices will also be added to communal kitchen stoves to support fire safety. This summer, Mortimer Hall will receive “three-quarter loft beds,” which provide students with additional room flexibility.

Several summer capital projects are also planned across residential facilities. Thompson Hall will undergo shower pan improvements, and McFarlane Hall will receive a new boiler room and hot water system. Gordon and Harmon Halls will have roof replacements completed, while Benedict, Dobson, Gordon, and Harmon will receive new exterior doors. Bramley Hall will receive new elevators as part of the final phase of the high-rise elevator project. Briggs Hall will receive new bedroom doors and a new ID tap-access control system. Furniture replacements will continue in the Townhome Complex, with Townhomes 1 – 4 receiving updates this summer. Wi-Fi access point upgrades are also planned for Mortimer, Benedict, Dobson, Perry, Briggs, McFarlane, MacVicar, McLean, and Thompson halls.

Residential Life will share updates if any project work affects campus operations.
