The library compiled a list of approximately 1,500 citations of books, book chapters, and articles published by Brockport faculty and staff over the seven years, though this list is not exhaustive. In 2017, faculty were publishing an average of about 80 works annually. In 2025, the number of faculty publications has grown to more than double that figure. View the Zotero collection.
“Two weeks ago at Scholars Day, we celebrated our students’ creation of new knowledge, and today, we are celebrating that of faculty and staff,” said Drake Library Director Bonnie Swoger.
President Heidi Macpherson congratulated faculty and staff on their accomplishments, highlighting the ways students benefit from faculty scholarship.
“Our students are definitely the primary beneficiary of your research,” said President Macpherson. “Not only do they learn from the content, but they learn what it means to ask meaningful questions, to test ideas, to shape narratives, and pursue excellence in their fields.”
Similar events have been hosted by the library, but not since 2017. The time period celebrated at the recent event aligns with President Heidi Macpherson’s tenure at Brockport. A collection of President Macpherson’s books and articles was displayed at the event.
Three faculty members gave lightning talks on their research: Lauren Lieberman (Kinesiology, Sport Studies & Physical Education), Elizabeth Heavey (Nursing), and Jennifer Ramsay (Anthropology).
For each of two schools and two colleges, as well as the library, a table displayed abstracts of selected faculty publications. Open access articles were specially marked and QR codes provided for easy access.
